CEBU, Philippines - The Capitol is inviting exhibitors from various areas in Cebu as it officially opened yesterday its weeklong Christmas Trade Fair dubbed the “Pasko sa Kapitolyo: Agri-Fishery Trade.”
Delicacies, fruits, vegetables, and even ornamental plants are now being sold at the trade fair at the back of Capitol’s main building for cheaper prices.
“Usa sa purpose ani atong agri-fare kay para maka-link tag ‘potential buyers,’ said Provincial Agriculturist Roldan Saragena.
He said potential buyers are particularly those who buy wholesale and not just those who would buy five pieces of a product.
Last August, the Capitol also held an agri-fair as part of its month-long celebration of Cebu’s 446th founding anniversary with 41 towns and 29 private establishments as participants.
Saragena said they have lesser participants for this month’s trade fair considering the number of Christmas parties and local government units also have their respective agri-fairs.
The Pasko sa Kapitolyo fair has 14 participating LGUs and is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until December 18.
“Usually mao ra ‘na nga participants basta Christmas agri-fair pero basta anniversary nga fair, founding anniversary, daghan kaayo. Maglisod gali mi og accommodate sa uban,” Saragena said.
A mother who was tending to one of the stalls said the fair helped her gain profit considering the P1,000 stall rent.
“Nakatabang ni namo labi na para sa pamlite namo ug bawn sa mga bata,” she said. (FREEMAN)
