Power outage in Liloan, Consolacion, Mandaue

CEBU, Philippines - An unscheduled power interruption hit Mandaue City and the nearby towns of Liloan and Consolacion in the morning yesterday.

National Grid Corporation of the Philippines spokesperson Betty Martinez said in a statement that the power failure was due to the tripping off of the 138kV Banilad(Cebu)-Mandaue Line at 10:52 a.m.

She said though, that Visayan Electric Company feeders, which were affected by the outage, have been restored between 1:55 p.m. to 2:42 p.m. after shifting its power load from NGCP's Cebu Substation to the Mandaue Gas Insulated Substation(GIS).

On the other hand, Martinez said that VECO and Cebu Electric Cooperative II feeders affected by the outage of the 69kV Compostela-Consolacion line at 1:06 p.m.  have also been restored  at 2:25 p.m. after the line was re-energized following immediate troubleshooting.

VECO fully restored the power in Mandaue City, Liloan, and Consolacion around 3 p.m. yesterday. — (FREEMAN)
