CEBU, Philippines – A delegate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings from Vietnam has invited furniture owners in Mandaue City to display their products in the country.
Clayton Tugonon, one of the organizers of the three-day Mandaue Expo Center at the Oakdridge Pavillion, said APEC delegate Pham Thi Thuy Diep was impressed by the world-class furniture and urged manufacturers to bring the furniture to Vietnam.
“Madam Diep is inviting us to hold the same exhibit in Vietnam and wanted to concretize this as soon as possible,” Tugonon said.
Mandaue was among the cities the APEC delegates visited.
According to a statement released by Mandaue City’s information office, several delegates, balikbayas, and locals came to see the three-day exhibit dubbed “Designing for the World” participated by at least 50 firms.
The Cebu provincial government reported earlier that some of the foreign delegates who participated in the APEC meetings in September brought home furniture from Mandaue City.
The city has earned a reputation of producing fine and export-quality furniture products. — /JMO (FREEMAN)
