1 died, 3 hurt in road accidents

CEBU, Philippines - Three people were injured including a barangay councilwoman and a minor due to an accident involving three motorcycles in Borbon town last Friday.

Councilwoman Zenaida Pasaol, of Barangay Sagay, Borbon, landed in the hospital while the two other motorcycle riders — Rechie Estañero and the minor — were taken into police custody.

Police Officer 1 Raffe Tejares, desk officer of Borbon Police Station, the three were travelling towards Cebu City on board their motorcycles.

Tejares said the minor tried to overtake Estañero but was forced to go back to his lane because of an incoming vehicle from the opposite lane. The minor hit Estañero’s motorcycle in the process as well as that of Pasaol.

Estañero and the minor allegedly tried to help the councilwoman but the latter allegedly got angry. The husband later came and hit the minor twice.

“Ila pang tabangan si konsehal kay naluko sa daplin pero wala magpatabang nasuko man hinoon, pag-abot sa bana gisuntok ang minor. Ang ikaduha iya tang suntokon natapi sa ika-duha,” Tejares said.

Both Estañero and minor only suffered bruises in the body while Pasaol was transported to Cebu Doctors Hospital.

According to Tejares, the councilwoman only had a student driver’s permit while Estañero and the minor do not have driver’s license.
