CEBU, Philippines – A police officer is facing investigation after he allegedly threatened to shoot a boy Saturday evening in Moalboal.
Cebu Provincial Police Office director Senior Superintendent Noel Gillamac has directed the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch to investigate PO3 Victor Avenido. Avenido was accused by the 15-year-old boy of threatening to shoot him past 11 p.m. on Saturday in Sitio Bantayan II, Barangay Basdiot.
The minor was assisted by his aunt in reporting the incident to the Moalboal Police Station.
Police Officer 3 Stewart Bayang, who received the complaint, said the minor claimed that he was driving a motorcycle on his way to his grandfather’s wake when Avenido flagged him down. The policeman was allegedly drunk.
Avenido reportedly held the motorcycle’s hand bar and threatened to shoot the minor.
The boy allegedly shouted for help which alerted his aunt who was just living nearby. The aunt accompanied the boy to the police station to have the incident recorded in the blotter.
After learning the incident, Gillamac immediately directed Superintendent Brindo Nacario, PIDMB chief, to immediately investigate the incident. Nacario was given within the week to submit his investigation report. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
