No bail set for four men who hacked companion

CEBU, Philippines - The Office of the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor recommended no bail against four suspects, including a minor, who allegedly hacked a 44-year-old man to death in Barangay Mabasa, Argao town for reportedly refusing to lend money.

Teodoro Camajalan, 46; Glen Basilisco, 25; Ekiliano Camajalan, 33; and a 16-year-old boy are facing murder charges before the prosecutor’s office over the killing of Bomirilo Davis, said Senior Inspector Alejandro Batobalonos, chief of Argao Police Station.

Batobalonos said they also filed a complaint against the minor after the Department of Social Welfare and Development assessed that the boy acted with discernment on Davis’ murder. The minor surrendered to the police Monday afternoon.

Batobalonos said the four opted not to invoke their right to undergo preliminary investigation during the inquest proceedings before State Prosecutor Jerome Abarcaon Tuesday.

Teodoro, Basilisco, and Ekiliano are temporarily detained at Argao Police Station and will be transferred to Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) next week.

The minor, on the other hand, was brought yesterday to DSWD’s Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth in Argao for custody.

Ekiliano, Basilisco, the boy and Davis were allegedly drinking and singing last Sunday evening when Teodoro, who allegedly lost his money to gambling, arrived and borrowed money from the victim.

However, Davis refused to lend money to Teodoro, which allegedly angered the suspect.

After the drinking session, Davis, who was bringing with him a sickle, decided to go home but the four allegedly threw stones at him.
