CEBU, Philippines - A student lost almost P70,000 worth of valuables to a burglar who forcibly opened his room in a dormitory in Barangay Sambag Uno, Cebu City around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Tom Edzel Quitala, 19, boarder of Salve Far Away Home dormitory, reported that he noticed his room was already open and his personal items were already missing when he got home.
Police Officer 3 Clifton Manugora, desk officers of Fuente Police Station, said that Quitala was out of his dormitory and when he came back, the padlock on his door was already levered and the things inside the his room were already scattered.
The items taken from the victim include an Acer Laptop worth P28,000, Samsung phone worth P1,500, Nokia phone worth P2,500, pocket Wi-Fi worth P3,000, Broadband worth P1,499, chargers of gadgets worth P9,000, three silver bracelets worth 10,000, two wrist-watches worth P9,800, and basketball shoes worth P3,999.
Marieta Salve, the landlady of the dormitory admitted in an interview over TV Patrol Central Visayas that this is not the first time a burglary incident happened in the place, which is why she has been reminding the boarders about the matter.
She also added that there are no closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras set up in the said dormitory.
Crime Scene Investigation Unit led by SPO2 Juluis Codilla lifted latent prints at the crime scene as requested by the victim. (FREEMAN)
