CEBU, Philippines - Top officials from the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board-7 and the Land Transportation Office-7 will discuss on Wednesday the transportation scheme for the public for the upcoming Sinulog festivities.
LTFRB-7 regional director Rey Elnar said that for their part, they will allow some buses within the city to transport passengers not within their regular route.
Elnar since that his office will no longer issue any special permit for buses but will simply issue directive to that effect.
“I will issue an authority that will allow buses nga makasulod in some strategic areas to ferry passengers kay daghan kaayo mga tawo ana nga time. No need of special permit aron di makabayad ang mga bus operators. This is for public service anyway,” Elnar added.
Three years ago, LTFRB-7 implemented this initiative of allowing provincial buses and mini-buses to enter the city proper after complaints among those who attended the festival of being stranded due to lack of public utility vehicles.
Arnel Tancinco, regional director of the Land Transportation Office-7 said that his office, together with Cebu City Traffic Operations and Management, will discuss on the deployment of traffic personnel during the event. (FREEMAN)
