CH intensifies fundraising drive

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City government has intensified its fundraising campaign dubbed as “Piso Mo, Hospital Ko” as it will already start the construction of the new Cebu City Medical Center next month.

The City Hall through the Public Information Office will tap private schools, business establishments, and pharmacies to take part in the undertaking.

“Atong palapdan ngadto sa mga nagkadaiyang private institutions particularly private schools aron mahatagan pud nato og equal opportunity ang atong mga parents, teachers and kabataan agi sa paghatag sa ilang voluntary donations alang sa atong tinguha sa pagpabarog sa CCMC,” public information officer Carlo Dugaduga said.

“Ang atong opisina naningkamot ug nanlimbasog na matubag ang damgo sa atong syudad pagpatindog sa bag-ong CCMC pinaagi sa piso sa mga Cebuano mao nag-concentrate kita sa pag-tap sa nagkadaiyang institutions,” he added.

The 45-year-old CCMC sustained major damage after the magnitude 7.2 earthquake in October last year.

The city has been conducting the fundraising activity in at least 18 elementary and public schools in the city since February. The city’s schools division superintendent, Rhea Mar  Angtud, supports the campaign, Dugaduga said.

“Gipalapdan ang campaign sa ‘Piso Mo, Hospital Ko’ ug this time, gi-engage ang DepEd. Dakong uyon ug suporta si Angtud sa pagpaapil sa elementary and high school sa tibuok division sa Cebu City,” he said.

Among the high schools which participated in the fund drive are Gothong National School, Pardo High School, Tisa Integrated High School, Mambaling National High School, and Pasil National High School.

Elementary schools also joined the campaign. These include the Basak Community Elementary School, Bulacao Community Elementary School, Gothong, Inayawan Elementary School, Labangon Elementary School, Mambaling Elementary School, Pardo Elementary School, Pardo Extension Elementary School, Pasil Elementary School, Punta Princesa Elementary School, Regino Mercado Elementary School, and Tisa 1and 2 Elementary School.

All the “piso” containers will be brought to the City Treasurer’s Office for counting and documentation. Currently, the collection has already reached to over P14 million.  (FREEMAN)
