CEBU, Philippines - Five policemen from the Cebu Provincial Police Office were given medals by the Police Regional Office-7 following the arrest of the security guard who was the suspect in the killing of three persons inside a bank in Daanbantayan town last New Year’s eve.
The Medalya ng Kasanayan were personally pinned by PRO-7 director, Chief Supt. Danilo Constantino and Central Command- Armed Forces of the Philippines commander, Maj. Gen. John Bonafos, as guest speaker.
CPPO director, Sr. Supt. Noel Gillamac; Provincial Intelligence Branch chief, Supt. Rodolfo Albotra Jr.; PIB team leader, Sr. Insp. Wilson Abot; PO2 Glenn de la Torre Besande and PO1 Christian Billy Mark Illut, were lauded for a job well done.
Gillamac said that the award given to them will serve as their challenge to exert more effort in arresting lawless elements and to give justice to the victims’ families.
“We need to arrest kung dunay tao nga naka-commit ug crime to prove that there is justice,†Gillamac said in a phone interview.
He added that good policemen have good intelligence information, perseverance and good working attitude.
Constantino also raised the challenge to all police offices to check and arrest those who still have pending warrant of arrests to bring them to jail.
Early this month, suspect Berly Tudtud, 28, of Barangay Bungtod, Bogo City, was arrested in a joint operation led by Abot and the Sagay City Police Station led by Insp. Bose in Sitio Gamboa, Barangay Tadlong, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
Recovered from Tudtud was a hand grenade while his service 12-gauge shotgun was found hidden at his residence in Bogo City.
Tudtud admitted killing his buddy guard Dean Deserto, 26 and live-in partner Cecilia Torre, 30, and bank’s accounting clerk Jenelyn Megabon, 26.
He also admitted robbing the P80,000 from the steel cabinet of the bank.
Tudtud was tracked down through his personal file from the Ricarte Security Agency. (FREEMAN)
