MARINA-7 adds trips to Ormoc

CEBU, Philippines - The Maritime Industry Authority-7 has added more trips bound for Ormoc City which is the nearest port in going to Tacloban City and nearby provinces.

“We already add more trips for Ormoc City from 15 trips to 25 trips daily,” said MARINA-7 regional director Nanette Dinopol.

Dinopol said that ship owners especially in Cebu are willing to have a free ride among typhoon victims in Tacloban City and nearby provinces.

But Dinopol stressed that everything has still to be ironed out before this plan is implemented.

“We still have to coordinate with the local government in Tacloban City and in Cebu City,” Dinopol said.

She added that it would be difficult to let the evacuees and ride the vessels for free without coordinating with the Cebu City government.

As of now, vessels of Philippine Navy and Philippine Coastguard were used among evacuees for free from Tacloban City and other parts of Eastern Visayas.  (FREEMAN)
