CEBU, Philippines - A 41-year-old construction worker was nabbed for allegedly stealing a backpack with items inside worth P40,800 inside the compound of a hospital in Gorordo Avenue, Barangay Kamputhaw Cebu City last Friday afternoon.
The suspect, identified as Jessie Caballero, who is a construction worker of the compound of Perpetual Succour Hospital was arrested after the alleged crime was reportedly recorded in the hospital’s Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) camera.
The 21-year-old victim, identified as Maria Josie Dumag, is a nurse currently working at the said hospital.
The backpack contained one 18-Karat gold class ring worth P20,000, the victim’s wallet which had P600 cash, one Nokia C3 cell phone worth P8,000, a make-up kit worth P200, and a 10-Karat gold class pin worth P12,000.
Caballero was arrested during the follow-up operation conducted by Federico Orence and Beltran Dowdoyano, house detectives of Care Security Agency after reportedly seeing the recorded video in the CCTV.
The backpack and the items were recovered from the possession of the suspect, who is now detained at the Cebu City Jail.
