CEBU, Philippines - Close to 400 patients from five barangays in Cebu City were served by The FREEMAN Foundation during BANAT News’ 19th anniversary last August 23, 2013.
The recipients, from infants to senior citizens, were from Barangays Parian, Punta Princesa, Santo Niño, Tejero, and Quiot. They were offered meals during a feeding program, consultation services, blood sugar tests, and medicines. The Naval Forces Central - Civil Military Operations 7 offered haircut services and provided security forces for crowd control.
According to Foundation administrator Dr. Remedios Yap Bacasmas, a total of P40,000 in medicines was disposed during that day.
Volunteers were composed of medical service practitioners from Navforcen and from the Foundation’s partner medical institutions like Gullas Medical Center and the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, soldiers, and media practitioners who are members of the Foundation’s Core Group headed by The FREEMAN general manager Melandro “Bhoy†M. Mendoza.
