CEBU, Philippines - A nine-year-old girl who was raped by a construction worker was found dead in a grassy lot in Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.
The suspect, 21-year-old Junriel Dosaba, was immediately arrested by the police and admitted to the crime.
Dosaba said he came from a drinking session Wednesday evening and decided to visit the construction site where he was working. There, the girl approached him to ask for money.
Instead of giving money, he brought the girl to the vacant lot where he raped her.
Jimmy Duero, a grass cutter of the Clean and Green Program of the Lapu-Lapu City Government found the girl’s body.
They reported to the police. They went to the construction site nearby to pick up Dosaba after a witness told the police that Dosaba was seen with the girl before she was found dead.
The victim was positively identified by her mother who immediately went to the area upon learning that a dead girl was found.
She sustained injuries in her body and has blood in her private part. The police believe that the suspect covered her mouth while raping her that resulted in suffocation.
The victim was last seen Wednesday noon playing with her neighbor.
Her body will be subjected to an autopsy while the suspect is detained in the Lapu-Lapu City Police pending filing of proper charges. —/MBG (FREEMAN)
