Mary Ann denies she has armed bodyguard

CEBU, Philippines - Former Lahug, Cebu City barangay captain and Team Rama candidate for North District councilor Mary Ann delos Santos once again denied having initiated the commotion that happened in her area days ago.

“I would like to make it clear that the provocation did not come from us. It was them who deliberately removed and tore my posters in my very own barangay. They’ve been doing that in other barangays but I rest my case, I cannot do anything about it. But not in my (barangay),” said delos Santos.

Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) earlier alleged that their local leader in Sitio Kamagong, barangay Lahug was punched by delos Santos’ bodyguard following a heated argument that stemmed from removal of posters from both parties.

“I categorically deny that. I do not have a bodyguard. I can fend for myself. When I go around, I have nobody with me except my driver,” she reiterated her point to reporters.

Because this happened in her own turf where she served as captain for over a decade now, the elected barangay councilor promised to solve the matter by herself.

“As I said, this is a domestic matter. I will settle this internally. I have decided not to seek the help of the party so as not to burden them further. I believe I can solve this even without the party’s intervention,” she added.

As of yesterday, delos Santos has not yet decided whether or not to pursue legal actions against those she argued against over removed campaign posters.

“We have the whole thing documented. It was recorded at the Mabolo police blotter. In case we decide to push charges, we have enough proof,” delos Santos said.  (FREEMAN)
