VECO and BPI sign MOA for bill collection

CEBU, Philippines -  Visayan Electric Co., Inc. (VECO) recently signed a memorandum of agreement with the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) for the latter to expand its collection services and give customers more convenient payment alternatives.

Sandro Aboitiz, VECO billing and collection manager said that for this year, the company will be able to open more payment alternatives, such as through mobile/SMS and debit/ATM card payments.

Aboitiz, in a statement, said that this is VECO’s way of ensuring the delivery of its promise of “more convenience and hassle-free payment options” for its customers.

Nieves J. Basa, BPI vice-president for Transaction Banking Division, said the bank is actively partnering with major utility companies like VECO. These partnerships enable BPI to give value-added service to Cebu-based customers in response to their clamor to use alternative banking channels to conveniently pay their bills via the internet.

VECO customers with individual accounts may log on to www.bpiexpressonline.com. while corporate accounts may open www.bpiexpresslink.com to pay electricity bills.

“Customers are also encouraged to pay on or before the due date to avoid late payment charges and disconnection of electric service,” Aboitiz added.

Once a notice of disconnection is received, however, VECO customers should only pay at VECO collection offices to avoid the inconvenience of disconnection.  (FREEMAN)
