Mainly "Black and White"

CEBU, Philippines - This year’s “Glitterati 5: Style Flux” had16 community models walked the runway in “black and white” creations of designers Mia Arcenas, Celine Borromeo and Joyce Maw, the new darlings du jour of the local fashion scene.

The event took place, as usual, at the Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu, on September 30. The runway was shared by the youthful Cebuano personalities and a number of the metro’s top professional models donning stylish ensembles that were picked from collections by the mall’s well-loved fast-fashion brands.

Essentially the follow-up of last year’s “Glitterati 4: Designer Denim,” which was held also at the Northwing, this year’s holding of one of SM City Cebu’s signature events focused on the stylistic impact of powdered neutrals and pastels – rendered to form by an equitable utilization of blacks and whites.

In all, Arecenas, Borromeo and Maw’s presented pieces bore a stark minimalist theme – superbly polarized by an effective use of ribbed-fabrics and a solid understanding of the power of parallel lines to yield form-flattering cuts and sheens. (FREEMAN)
