CEBU, Philippines - It is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated every year in autumn, signifying the victory of light over darkness. Diwali is one of the grandest holidays in India. And now it has come to Cebu.
From October 21 to 26, the rich cuisine of India takes the center spot at Café Marco of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu. Authentic Indian dishes - like chicken tikka masala, palak paner - are served with rotti and nan bread, dal-makhani and assorted Indian kebabs. There are also activities for the kids such as rangoli coloring and diya painting. On October 23, the official start of Diwali, traditional Indian dances are performed at the hotel lobby.
Marco Polo Plaza Cebu's celebration of the Festival of Lights is under the guidance of Diwali consultant Ms. Aditi Ahuja, an Indian artist and creative events consultant living in the Philippines. It is part of the hotel's Culinary Journey series, which features culinary treats from different regions of the world.
