Metro Manila impressed The Jets so much that when they decided to celebrate their 30th anniversary this year, they opted to do it not only in the country’s capital, but they also included the city of lively and lighthearted people – Cebu City!
“That was a lot of fun!” raved The Jets drummer Rudy Wolfgramm about their sold-out show at the Araneta Coliseum in 1988. Aside from their numerous television appearances, they went sightseeing, shopping around the metro, and even rode a jeepney. Aside from the warm weather and hospitality, they are looking forward to the food trip this time around.
The Jets will return to Araneta Center with “The Jets! Live in Manila” for their on-going 30th Anniversary Greatest Hits Tour at the new Kia Theater (the upscale New Frontier Theater) on November 6, 8 p.m., in a two-hour showcase of ultimate love ballads and danceable songs. The concert is produced by Random Minds, Inc.
The group is planning to have more fun in Cebu City when they do its second leg on November 8, a Sunday, at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of Waterfront Hotel and Casino.
The Jets is the mid-‘80s American band sensation made of the Wolfgramm siblings of Minnesota, USA who specialize in pop, R&B and dance music, particularly Latin freestyle. The beautiful and bouncy brood is made up Moana, Haini, Leroy, Rudy, Eddie, Natalia, and Donnie.
Before they were The Jets, they performed as a Polynesian revue with two Filipinos as singers and musicians. In 1985, they converted themselves into a pop band, adopting the name The Jets, which they picked up from Elton John’s influential 1973 rocker, “Benny and The Jets.”
They turned into a smash group that produced such hits as “Crush on You,” “You Got It All,” “Make It Real,”“Cross My Broken Heart,” “Rocket 2 U,” and “Sendin’ All My Love” which made it to the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Dance Chart. Some of their songs were nominated in the Grammys.
Their songs have so much impact that these continue to have cover versions and receive extensive airplay up to now. Britney Spears covered “You Got It All,” same with Filipino entertainers Arnee Hidalgo, Pinay and MYMP (Make Your Momma Proud). Aaron Carter covered “Crush on You” on his first album.
In 2013, The Jets released the digital album Reunited with a remake of “Crush on You” as the carrier single. This will be included in the repertoire of the Manila and Cebu City shows.

AJ Muhlach and Ella Cruz are the lead stars in Wattpad Presents “Bebeng Pabebe Meets Super Jiro,” aired over TV5. This marks the fourth season of Wattpad Presents, with this new episode written by Kuya_Soju who is popular among the online community.
AJ is flattered that he was given the chance to play the lead. He was among the Viva stars who appeared in the defunct series “Bagets” (which also aired on TV5) and was even paired then with fellow newcomer Nadine Lustre. But it seems luck was not on AJ’s side. His career did not take off unlike that of Nadine’s, who became popular after she was paired with James Reid.
AJ says he is happy and contented with his career which he described as “slow but sure.”
“I don’t want to be a flash in the pan. I want to known as an actor and that is what I am trying to achieve,” said AJ, adding that being a Muhlach has been to his advantage.
“It is an advantage because people got to know me easily because of my surname. But I know there is also some pressure because I need to live up to people’s expectations. Since I am a Muhlach, I know that people expect me to be a good actor. That is why I am constantly reminding myself to do my job well,” he said.
It was AJ’s dream to portray the role of a superhero and he is thankful to TV5 for fulfilling that dream in this Wattpad episode.
How is it working with Ella? “Masarap siyang katrabaho. Click naman kami kahit na noong una ay tinatawag niya akong kuya,” AJ added.
