GBP hailed among HR Asia’s best firms to work for in Asia

CEBU, Philippines — Independent power producer Global Business Power Corporation (GBP) was recently recognized as one of the best companies to work for in the region in 2019 by HR Asia, Asia’s most authoritative publication for senior HR Professionals.

Global Business Power, along with 22 other companies, was given this distinction based on HR Asia’s proprietary assessment process, which covered employee engagement, corporate culture, employer branding, and job satisfaction. Among the awardees, GBP was the only company engaged in the business of power generation.

“We are humbled that our people management efforts have made GBP a conducive environment for work and learning, as we recognize that our people are crucial to the attainment of our new vision to become a total sustainable energy solutions provider,” shared GBP President Mr. Jaime T. Azurin during the awarding ceremony.

“In GBP, we employ a holistic approach to investing in people, and we begin by ensuring that all employees are aware of how they contribute to the overall growth of the nation,” shared Azurin, citing the company’s longstanding commitment to enlighten lives and empower progress.

Azurin also highlighted that GBP fosters a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

In 2018, the company inaugurated the GBP Institute for Energy (GIE), which now serves as the learning hub for employees across sites. Along with modern learning facilities, the GIE features a state-of-the-art Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) simulator that promotes understanding of clean coal technology.

HR Asia Awards covers 12 markets in the region wherein a total of 7,210 employees from 190 companies in the Philippines participated in this year’s survey.

Global Business Power, through its subsidiaries, is a leading power producer in the Visayas region which operates 11 power generation facilities in Cebu, Iloilo, Aklan, and Mindoro. In 2017, the company acquired a 50% stake in Mindanao-based Alsons Thermal Energy Corporation.
