CEBU, Philippines - An all-in-one Korean spa was recently opened to address the need for total care and cater to the increased tourist influx in the country.
Gangnam Wellbeing Spa, which is named after the dance craze and fad music “Oppa Gangnam Styleâ€, is managed by operations manager Catherine Tan. It is situated at AS Fortuna St., Banilad, Mandaue City.
Tan said that the spa aims to provide quality massage and recreation for the middle-class to high-end market segments.
“We believe that there is a need for a total care for ourselves so we were able to come up with a new concept of an all-in-one spa after a year of planning. We know that there is an existing market for this type of business,†she said in an interview.
Gangnam Wellbeing Spa offers spa services such as whole body massage, body scrub, facial spa, and foot massage.
Prices of their services range from P350 and up.
Apart from having four hot-and-cold Jacuzzi pools with falls, it boasts of its stone, clay and steam saunas. It also has available lockers and two sleeping rooms for both males and females. Each sleeping room has 6 flatbeds.
It has 28 public flatbed mattresses and seven VIP rooms that could accommodate two to three customers. It also has 65 therapists that are well-trained of the mix Korean style and the famous “hilot†of Filipinos.
Tan noted that Gangnam Wellbeing Spa is believed to be the biggest all-in-one spa in Cebu that could accommodate customers in groups, making it competitive among other existing massage parlors.
The two-storey building has a capacity area of 1,500 square meters and could accommodate 50 to 100 customers every day. It has a parking area that is good for 50 cars.
Located at the second floor of the building is the Tony and Jackey Salon for beauty and hair needs.
There is also a Korean-inspired restaurant inside the spa, and Tan further revealed that they will be coming up with affordable Filipino dish menus next month.
Although majority of its clientele are composed of Koreans and Filipinos, she cited that the spa also caters to other nationalities such as Japanese and Americans.
Tan expressed high hopes for probable expansion program within this year. They also plan to add a kids’ corner or playroom for the customers’ children.
Gangnam Wellbeing Spa had its soft opening last Friday and will have its grand opening within this month. —/JMD (FREEMAN)
