Cebu City di pa andam sa Pedestrianization

CEBU, Philippines — Konsehal sa Cebu City miangkon nga dili pa andam ang dakbayan sa implementasyon sa ‘pedestrianization’ sa pagkakaron ug mas maayong unahon og tiwas ang Phase 1 sa Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT).

Ang chairman sa Committee on Transportation sa City Council, si Councilor James Anthony Cuenco, miingon nga bisan uyon siya sa kinatibuk-ang konsepto sa pedestrianization mas gihatagan niya og gibug-aton ang posisyon sa Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) nga ang siyudad dili pa andam alang niini.

Ang mga plano sa “pedestrianize” sa bahin sa Osmeña Blvd. gikan sa junction niini sa P. del Rosario Street hangtod sa Plaza Independencia, parte kini sa CBRT nga nagtinguha usab sa pagpalambo sa Colon Street.

Si Atty. Kent Jongoy, luyoluyong pangulo sa CCTO miingon nga dili pa andam ang maong dalan alang sa implementasyon niini ug kinahanglan pa og taas nga panahon sa pagplano.

"I am against it (implementation of pedestrianization) because of the timeliness. And I agree with the CCTO, we are not ready for now, at least,” matud pa ni Cuenco. 

Para kang Cuenco, ang pedestrianization epektibo sa ubang mga nasud nga adunay upat ka seasons.

“Here in our country, there’s only the rainy and the dry season, and because of the Climate Change, we are in an extreme weather situations while in summer, it is very hot and in rainy season, the rain pours very hard and its flooding,” suma ni Cuenco.

Matud ni Cuenco dili kini pwede ipatuman sa Osmeña Boulevard, pwede lang kini sa  pipila ka bahin sa Colon Street, tabok sa dapit sa Basilica Minore del Santo Niño padulong sa Magellan’s Cross.

“To pedestrianize the whole stretch of the Osmeña Boulevard which is a major thoroughfare would only create more chaos in terms of traffic and accessibility among our commuting traffic,” pulong ni Cuenco.

Sumala pang Cuenco, ang Link to the Port wala malakip sa orihinal nga desinyo sa CBRT Phase 1.  Kinahanglang humanon una kining Phase 1 ayha pa hisgutan ang pedestrianization.

“We will never know until it’s there, so I suggest, tiwason sa nila, let us see how the BRT will be implemented, and how it could work, and if we see that it works, then let’s go ahead with the pedestrianization,” matud ni Cuenco.— Jessa Grezil S. Bacus (BANAT NEWS)
