                    [Title] => For shame!!!
                    [Summary] =>

I am mortified that an alumnus of my UP (University of the Philippines) beloved would do such a shameless and dishonest act as stealing someone else’s photo and submitting it to a contest as his own – and then even preen and gloat as he received the prize for it. And to think that he – Mark Joseph Solis, remember that name – has done it many times before! “No words can express how sorry I am” just won’t cut it; this was not a “regrettable lapse on my judgment” – hey, didn’t someone else claim a “lapse of judgment” in connection with a wiretapped conversation? – since it was not an isolated incident but a repeated, deliberate pattern of fraud.

The owner of the photo that was lifted and entered by graduate student Mark Joseph Solis in a competition accepted the apology of his mother and urged the public to now move on.

Mark Joseph Solis is now the most hated U.P. alumnus in the blogosphere. Judging from the heat generated in my Facebook account which, incidentally, is the most empirical way to validate this conclusion, this unfortunate graduate student is the man currently garnering the most votes for the "let's throw him under the bus" award.

In the article Sanctions poised over lifted photo by Janvic Mateo and Donnabelle Gatdula, Dr. Anthony Leachon, director of UP Manila’s Information, Publication and Public Affairs, was quoted as saying that Mark Joseph Solis “recognized his mistakes and has shown his desire to be accountable” and therefore “we must give him a second chance.”
