[Title] => Administration lawmakers: Lifting of state of emergency to boost economy
[Summary] => The decision of President Arroyo to lift the emergency decree will have a positive impact on the country’s economy, six administration lawmakers said yesterday.

One of the President’s economic advisers, Tarlac Rep. Jesli Lapus, said the decision to lift Proclamation 1017 will have beneficial effects on the country’s economy and further strengthen the value of the peso.

Lapus said the improving security situation following the week-long coup threats is expected to accelerate in the coming weeks and the peso might even breach the 50 to $1 level.
