[Summary] => BATANGAS – A tower of Globe Telecom was burned by suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Taysan town Sunday evening, police said.
Senior Superintendent Jesus Gatchalian, Batangas police director, said the incident could be the work of NPA but an investigation is still ongoing.
“If you will study their (NPA) previous operations against the Globe facilities, its highly probable that this incident was perpetrated by them,” Gatchalian told The STAR.
The placed the explosive materials at the generator set and equipment room, setting it off at around 11:45 p.m. setting off a huge fire.
Inspector Von Nicasio, deputy fire chief of Batangas, said inspite of the explosion and fire, there was no interruption in its cellular signal services and electrical power.
