After spending time at a local bar, Smith, apparently drunk, entered the taxi of cabbie Rodrigo Dioso, and turned on the ignition. He jabbed Dioso and pushed him out, then sped past him.

In his haste, Smith hit a parked taxi, and later, a Toyota Corolla. The latter’s owner tried to confront Smith but he instead bumped the Corolla anew before speeding away.
