Alien in trouble for road ruckus

-
CEBU CITY — American Harold Smith found himself in hot water here after he allegedly commandeered a cab, crashed into at least two vehicles and damaged government property past midnight last Thursday.

After spending time at a local bar, Smith, apparently drunk, entered the taxi of cabbie Rodrigo Dioso, and turned on the ignition. He jabbed Dioso and pushed him out, then sped past him.

In his haste, Smith hit a parked taxi, and later, a Toyota Corolla. The latter’s owner tried to confront Smith but he instead bumped the Corolla anew before speeding away.

The car owner gave chase until Smith hit the road railings on New Imus Road, causing the taxi to turn turtle and ripping down a No U-Turn sign.

Bystanders arrested Smith and turned him over to the police. Charges of car theft and damage to property have been filed against him, with a recommended bail of P90,000. — Freeman News Service
