MANILA, Philippines — Finally taking flight after getting grounded in their first two games, the Ateneo Lady Eagles aim to reach .500 for the first time in UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tourney today as they take on the UE Lady Warriors at the Filoil Flying V Center.
The Lady Eagles climbed out of a 0-2 hole with a breakthrough 16-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-23 victory over the UST side last Sunday and are tipped to go back-to-back in the 2 p.m. duel with the 0-3 Lady Warriors.
The “happy” Ateneans fought back from a one-set deficit and wiped out UST’s headstart in the third and fourth sets to get into the win column.
“It’s really important because obviously, if we didn’t do it, it would be bottom but now it’s really good for us and finally, it’s a start,” said Ateneo top player Bea de Leon.
