MANILA, Philippines – Bureau of Fire Protection steps up its semifinal drive as it tangles with Philippine National Police today even as Malacañang and MMDA clash in the other crucial match in the fourth UNTV Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Coming off a morale-boosting 74-72 win over the Kenneth Duremdes-led Senate Defenders, the Firefighters are slightly favored over the PNP Responders at 7 p.m.
The Firefighters are currently tied for Group B lead with the AFP Cavaliers at 5-1 in the tournament organized by UNTV president and CEO Daniel Razon for the country’s public servants. PNP, on the other hand, totes a 3-2 mark for second in Group A.
Expected to lead the Firefighters is fire volunteer and former FEU player Marlon Adolfo who erupted for 34 points in their big win over the Defenders last week.
In other games, Malacañang (5-2) tries to firm up its hold of the Group A lead as it collides with MMDA (4-2) at 3:30 p.m. while reigning champion Judiciary fights for dear life when it battles National Housing Authority at 5 p.m.
