Braves seek to force ‘rubber’ against Cubs

MANILA, Philippines - Arellano hopes to make it two-in-row against fancied San Beda and force a winner-take-all match for the NCAA juniors basketball crown at the MOA Arena today.

The Braves foiled the Cubs’ title sweep bid with a stunning 72-68 victory last Tuesday, snapping the many-time champions’ 19-game run and keeping their shot for a first-ever crown alive.

Carlo Abadeza dished out a double-double game of 16 points and 11 rebounds while Guillmer dela Torre backed him up with a solid 15-point effort as the Braves got back at the Cubs, who took Game One of the finals, 76-68, last week.

Gametime is at 2 p.m. before the sudden death between San Beda and Letran for the seniors diadem.

Game Four, if necessary, will be played on Nov. 3.
