PPSA to hold gun clinic for journalists

MANILA, Philippines - Some 200 journalists, including members of their respective families, will undergo firearms proficiency training when the Philippine Practical Shooting Association holds the Media Family Day on Sept. 6 at Camp Karingal Firing Range in Sikatuna Village, Quezon City.

PPSA president Gov. Suharto “Teng” Mangudadatu said members of the Philippine shooting team will personally conduct the training to participating journalists and their family members.

“We encourage journalists to experience practical shooting as a sport not necessarily to arm themselves but to help them gain knowledge on basic safety handling,” said Mangudadatu.

He added that the event will start with a gun safety seminar for all participants with the actual firearms proficiency to highlight the day-long event.

The PPSA chief said the seminar will also teach participants the process of firing a firearm even as the PPSA plans to increase the knowledge of every individual to help protect the lives of journalists and their respective families.
