SINGAPORE – The Philippines’ Flynn Jackes of Tuason Racing School delivered another huge feat abroad, waving the national flag high following his double victory recently in the 2013 Singapore Karting Championships at the Changi Karting Circuit here.
The 10-year-old Jackes, son of Australian pilot Ross and Filipina mother Daisy, gained the respect of his fellow karters and foreign race official as he swept Rounds 5 and 6 of the Cadet class in this international event for Tuason Racing School powered by BMW, Bridgestone, Standard Insurance, Coke Zero, PUMA, OMP, C!Magazine, Aguila Auto Glass, Acer, Oakley, Toptul, Bellevue, Karate Kid and Go Pro.
He flashed top form as he clocked the fastest qualifying time of 49.878 seconds that set the new track record as no Cadet karter has previously broken the 50-second barrier in the 1.010-km track.
That made Jackes the instant main target as Alex Brown, Dylan Roger Bondi and William Austen challenged him throughout the eight-lap pre-final race as the crowd cheered for their bets while keeping their eyes hooked in the thrilling four-way battle for the top spot.
But Jackes’ consistent driving and defensive strategy pulled through in the end, winning just 0.196 of a second ahead of Brown.
