Top riders gun for crucial wins in Phl motorsports

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Contenders go for crucial wins as they try to fuel their respective title bids in the final races of the Petronas Philippine Motorsports Championships at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga this weekend.

Dashi Watanabe of Aprilia hopes to finish in style as he seeks to formalize his claim on the overall Superbikes plum of the Bridgestone Philippine Superbikes Series sanctioned by Superbikes Racing Association.

Johnlery Enriquez guns for the big win to wrap up the overall title in the FDR Philippine Scooter Racing Championships while Nino Fabian and Tracy Soyanco brace for a showdown for the overall crown in the FDR Philippine Underbone King Championships both sanctioned by the Underbone and Scooters Racing Association and supported by FDR as the official tires.

Watanabe blew the chance to sweep the series after reigning titlist Raniel Resuello took his first win aboard his 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale after posting the fastest laptime of 1:38.978 in the last leg.

But the Fil-Japanese’s runner-up finish assured him the victory as he pooled a total of 122 points with Resuello in distant second with 97 points in the event sponsored by Petronas, Bridgestone as the official Superbikes tires and media partners Racing Beat @ Wave 89.1, Inside Motoring @ dzRJ810khz and Motorsiklo Xklusibo @ dzME 1530.
