MANILA, Philippines - Emperador Stadium, the world-class football field of real estate giant Megaworld in McKinley Hill, Taguig City, officially opened yesterday as the new home of the United Football League (UFL).
“We’ve seen how the Philippines has made football as one of the most anticipated sporting events in recent years. That’s why we saw the need to build this kind of sporting venue that will answer the needs, in terms of amenities and facilities, of even the most demanding athletes here and abroad,†said Jericho Go, Megaworld first vice president for Business Development and Leasing Group.
Sitting on a 15,000 square meter land, Emperador Stadium utilizes the Max S 60mm variety of the renowned Italian brand Limonta, a Fifa-certified turf provider. For the lighting, Belgian brand Schreder Group GIE and French brand Zenith Luminaries are used while Bradwell Group supplies the poles.
The multi-million stadium, which features locker rooms, dugouts and shower room facilities, can accommodate as many as 5,000 spectators.
Go was joined by Emperador Distillers, Inc. director Kendrick Tan , UFL chairman Santi Araneta, Megaworld Senior EVP Lourdes Gutierrez, Megaworld SVP for operations Philipps Cando, and Megaworld first VP and head of commercial division Kevin Tan in the ceremonial ribbon-cutting.
Araneta expressed excitement with the UFL-Megaworld partnership for the stadium.
“We look forward to stronger partnership. This is our first field, we’ll do what we can to make it not just the first.â€
