MANILA, Philippines - Fern-C Racing karters made the biggest haul of trophies – two by Dylan Arambulo – recently in the season finale of 2012 Coca-Cola Karting Super Series at the Clark International Speedway.
Arambulo, 10, rallied in the final race to capture the Formula Cadet Expert crown over TRS-Castrol Racing Kids Arthur Tuason and Wils Casequin.
Arambulo also scored a major upset when he copped the Mini-ROK plum on his very first try at the expense of top title contenders Flynn Jackes and Gabe Cabrera.
Overall in the series, he bagged the Formula Cadet Expert runner-up crown to account for three of the nine trophies Fern-C Racing harvested through the support of Bosch Power Tools. Milo Rivera copped the other trophy with his victory in the ROK Senior class and likewise bagged the runner-up honors in the ROK overall race.
Estefano Rivera also had two with his runner-up crown in the ROK Junior and third place in the ROK Overall while Raymond Cudala clinched the runner-up place for the day to eventually claim the Overall Formula SL Novice runner-up plum of the series.
Arambulo’s twin victory not only stamped his mark as a promising future champion but also proved the Grade 4 student of Ateneo, has a lot more to give in his budding career.
His giant-killing victory in the Mini-ROK class revealed his secret vault of special skills to surpass the pressures and ordeals of the competition and survive bigger challenges beyond his age.
He could have pulled an upset for the overall crown but set-up problems got him only to fourth place in both the qualifying heat and the Pre-Finals.
After accepting his kart could only go that far, his determination provided the extra power to bounce back in the Final race and grab victory.
Like Arambulo, Raymond Cudala was also gearing up for a title upset against AUTS Racing’s Carl Luig in the Formula SL Novice class after topping the qualifying heat and the Pre-Final to wrest the lead with a slim one point edge, 395-394.
Cudala was leading the Final race but Luig came side by side in the last 10 meters, forging a photo finish ending. As the smoke cleared up, Luig emerged the champion by just 0.008 of a second, as Cudala settled for the overall runner-up crown.
Milo and Estefano Rivera got caught in a mix-up midway the Final race along with VJ Suba and Daniel Miranda who later regained the top spot and pulled ahead while Suba tried to keep the Rivera brothers behind.
The FERN-C Racing top guns managed to escape and as Suba took the early exit with just a lap to go, the two went for a wild chase to stop Miranda’s looming triumph.
However, time wasn’t enough to complete their last ditch effort as Miranda sealed his first season win while Milo and Estefano Rivera settled for second and third places respectively.
