MANILA, Philippines - Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra returns to Manila for the third time next month, still thrilled to share his NBA feat with his fellow Filipinos one month after steering the Heat to the championship.
Presented by Gatorade, Spoelstra’s visit on Aug. 2-5 has been dubbed as the NBA Trophy Tour with the Heat mentor bringing along the Larry O’Brien championship trophy for the fans to see.
Spoelstra will hold a press conference upon his arrival on Aug. 2. He will then conduct an NBA 3X Clinic for teen boys and girls at the Jose Rizal University on Aug. 4 in line with the NBA 3X slated Aug. 17-19 at the SM MOA.
During his visit, Spoelstra will also have stops at The Block Atrium of SM North Edsa on Aug. 4 from 2-3 p.m. and at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall on the same day from 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
He will likewise host an interactive viewing party at the SM MOA Center Stage where the NBA will air an NBA Finals game and fans will be treated to a once-in-a-lifetime viewing experience. The game will be shown on the large movie screen while Spoelstra will provide his personal commentary, insights and inside information about the game.
Fans will also get a chance to interact with Spoelstra and ask questions during the viewing party.
To determine which game will be aired, fans can log onto the NBA Philippines Facebook page at www.facebook.com/philsnba and vote for either Game 3 or 4 of the NBA Finals. Voting will run from July 27 to Aug. 2.
Voters are encouraged to share the poll with their Facebook friends, and 20 lucky voters who do so will win a pair of tickets each to the interactive viewing party.
Spoelstra, who traces his roots from San Pablo, Laguna, led the Heat to the 2012 NBA championship against the Oklahoma Thunder to become the first-ever head coach of Asian descent or heritage to win an NBA title.
