MANILA, Philippines - Junior Powerade tries to bounce back from a setback to a resurgent Boracay Rum as it clashes with Erase Plantcenta even as the Waves go for a second straight win against the winless Cagayan Rising Suns in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Trinity University of Asia gym in Quezon City.
Mike Silungan, Mark Lopez and Alvin Padilla are tipped to lead the Junior Tigers’ bid against the skidding Erasers, who have lost their last three games after an opening game victory.
Gametime is at 4 p.m. after the 2 p.m. contest between Boracay Rum and Cagayan.
Silungan fired 17 points while Lopez and Padilla each had a double-double game for Junior Tigers, who dropped a sorry 60-64 loss to the Wavers last week.
The Waves, on the other hand, are fancied to log their second win in a row against the Rising Suns, who were clobbered by the Cebuana Lhuiller Gems, 55-82, also last week.
Kenneth Acibar, who churned out a 17-point output against the Junior Tigers, is expected to spearhead the Waves’ charge again although they remain wary of the Rising Suns despite the latter’s awful start.
“We’re really struggling. Right now, we’re just taking things at each passing moment. It’s no longer by quarter or by half. We just deal with the situation as it arises,” said Boracay Rum coach Lawrence Chongson.
