Warriors shine in various fronts

MANILA, Philippines - The University of the East recently fared well in different sports competitions – badminton, fencing, swimming, taekwondo and table tennis in the 74th UAAP season, and in weightlifting, beach volleyball and international basketball tournaments.

In the UAAP fencing championship, UE won its fifth straight overall title in women’s division and its second straight overall title in the boys’ side.

The Lady Warriors also set the record of being the first team to win the UAAP fencing title in the girls’ division with Patricia Marie Melendres bagging the MVP honors.

Nathaniel Perez and Kim Paolo Gutierrez were named MVP and Rookie of the Year, respectively, in the juniors division.

UE also shone in the first McKinley Hill Fencing Championships at Mt. Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa, Batangas.

The UE Warrior Fencers were under the tutelage of head coach Rolando Canlas Jr. and assistant coaches Rufel Endriano and Chester Uy.
