12th Cangolf Open attracts top amateurs

MANILA, Philippines - Reigning junior and national champion Rupert Zaragosa, former national titlist Clyde Mondilla and fancied Jobim Carlos banner the field in the 12th Canlubang Amateur Open which gets under way Oct. 12 at Cangolf’s north and south courses in Canlubang, Laguna.

The three of the country’s leading players in the ranks have confirmed their participation in the 54-hole tournament won by Riviera’s Wang Jeung Hun over Carlos last year.

Meanwhile, registration remains open with deadline set Oct. 7. Fee is pegged at P2,500 for non-member and P1,000 for club member, inclusive of one free practice round, raffle, giveaways and lunch.

Zaragosa and company are expected to slug it out for top honors in the premier Championship Division at Cangolf’s south course.

Other events on tap in the tournament, sponsored by The Turf Company and Pacsports Phl Inc., are the Classes A (11-and-below), B (12-18) and C (19-up) to be played in the last two days.

Also to be disputed is the ladies Open title won by Lovelynn Guioguio last year.
