MANILA, Philippines - The newly formed National Capital Region Aquatic Sports Association is staging the 14th leg of the Philippine Swimming League today at the Rizal Memorial pool.
NACRASA board member Chito Rivera, who organized the competition, said over 300 swimmers from Bohol, Cebu, Bicol, Batangas, Cavite, Olongapo, Antipolo, Marikina, Pasay, Novaliches, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Quezon Province, Laguna, Quezon City, Bulacan and Manila are competing in the event open to all male and female swimmers with ages from five to 17 and 18-above.
The competition starts at 8 a.m. after the warmup at 6:30 a.m.
Rivera said the competition will adopt the age band format, where swimmers of the same best personal times will swim together, but results will be based on age categories.
Rivera will also give educational materials to coaches.
The most outstanding male and female swimmers in each category will receive a trophy while the top three swimmers will be awarded medals. The fourth-eighth placers will receive ribbons.
PSL president Susan Papa cited the NACRASA for having immediately organized a big competition after its formation, saying NACRASA would play a key role in the PSL’s program for a healthy swimming community.
