MANILA, Philippines - Young aces CJ Tsui of Industria Racing and Sacha Feliciano of FERN-C Racing scored amazing comebacks to clinch separate wins recently in the fifth leg of the 2011 Petron Blaze Karting Super Series at the Kart Trak of the Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
Tsui, a second-year De La Salle-Zobel student, had a slow start in the qualifying but topped both the pre-final and final race to clinch the ROK Novice crown of this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Petron Blaze 100, San Miguel Corp., Aeromed, Denso Iridium Power, Motorstar Eastway and Yokohama Philippines.
He finished eighth in the combined ROK race as he even upstaged other senior karters with a clocking 14 minutes, 12.634 seconds to turn back Daniel Miranda of Cebuana Lhuillier and current leader Matthew Chan of Fern-C Racing.
Feliciano bested all her male rivals in clinching the Formula SL Novice title.
Aside from eclipsing all the Expert karters in the combined race, Sacha pulled through in a dramatic showdown against her closest title rival Basti Escalante of Tuason Racing, as she completed the 28-lap final race in 16:28.979 seconds or just 0.839 of a second ahead to preserve her hold of solo leadership..
Jaz Monzones of Natmo-Asia Racing, who at one time wrested the top spot midway the race, took third place while Sean Velasco of Industria Racing and Adrian Angeles of AUTS ended fourth and fifth, respectively.
Cebuano Vince Adrian Rojo bagged the Mini-ROK plum after beating Xedrei Daquigan and Shaira Milla.
Joining the circle of winners are Raymond Cudala of Tuason Racing and Bryan Thorp of AUTS who ruled the Cadet SQ classes.
Cudala romped to his fifth consecutive triumph in the Cadet SQ Expert class. He controlled the lead throughout and built a wide margin as he finished the 16-lap race in 10 minutes and 1.083 seconds or 7.927 seconds ahead of runner-up Jason Chamness.
Arthur “AT” Tuason, son of multi-titled racing champ JP Tuason, checked in third clocking 10 minutes and 17.313 seconds while Flynn Jackes and Will Casequin wound up fourth and fifth respectively.
Thorp prevailed in the Cadet SQ Novice class pulling a 1-2 finish for AUTS Racing together with Gabe Tayao.
Dylan Arambulo of Tuason Racing took third place while Xedrei Daquigan and Liam Sacal ended fourth and fifth respectively.
