Manila, Philippines - TV5 today features Bigtime Bakbakan featuring Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria who will be gunning for the WBO flyweight title against titleholder Mexican Julio Cesar Miranda.
TV5 airs the Juan Manuel Marquez-Likar Ramos fight from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. before Pinoy Samurai. Viloria’s big fight will be aired at 3 p.m. after Paparazzi. Simulcast broadcast of the fight will also be on AksyonTV (Channel 41 in Metro Manila; Channel 29 in Davao and Cebu). Back-to-back primetime replay of the fights will start at 6:30 p.m. on AKTV on IBC Channel 13.
Viloria, 30, the former IBF and WBC light flyweight champion, has a record of 28 wins and three losses and hopes to be a world title holder again after winning two straight fights. He won in a split decision against Omar Soto July 10, 2010 and knocked out Leimpetch Sor Veerapol of Thailand in the seventh round last Nov. 5, 2010.
Miranda, 31, won the WBO world title when he knocked out Filipino Riche Mepranum last June 12. Viloria promises to give his best for this fight. “Each fight, I treat it the way it’s supposed to be treated: real serious. It’s no different for this one. The way I look at it, there’s more motivation for me. There’s a lot of things riding on this fight; it’s a world title. I’m coming into the last few legs of my career so it’s that much more important for me to do well and win another one,” he said.
Marquez, 37, tests his mettle against the southpaw Ramos who is much younger at 25.
Having last fought in Nov. 27, 2010 against Michael Katsidis, he hopes to shake the rust before going up against Pacquiao in their Las Vegas fight in November. He is raring to avenge his 2008 loss to Pacquiao and this fight should prepare him for the bigger fight.
A left-handed fighter like Pacquiao, Ramos currently has a streak of three wins, all by knockout. This is the first time he will be facing a big-name fighter like Marquez.
