Batino bags crown in Denso KF2-KF3 karting

MANILA, Philippines - Don Batino pulled another masterful performance as he ruled the SQ Karting anew in the second leg of the 2011 Denso KF2-KF3 Cup Karting Series at the Carmona Racetrack.

Batino swept both the pre-final and final, breaking away with a wide margin over the rivals to capture the SQ Expert crown of this event sponsored by Denso and the Philippine Auto Components, Inc.

Having a hard time warding off polesitting Simon Tan in the early goings, Batino showed determination and quick thinking that catapulted him on top on the sixth to clinch the pre-finals by a hairline, clocking six minutes, 11.950 seconds or just 0.264 of a second ahead of Veterans class winner John Effinger with Expert class runner-up Nike Mora and third placer Paolo Ferrer checking in third and fourth.

With the win, a more confident Batino quickly pulled ahead and gained unmolested lead as early as the fourth lap before claiming the checkered flag in nine minutes, 12.876 seconds or a far 9.533 seconds ahead of Effinger.

He bagged the Expert crown over Bobby Noriega and third placer Julius Milla who actually finished fifth and sixth in the race. Paolo Ferrer and Nike Mora wound up fourth and fifth, respectively.

Effinger went home with the Veterans class title over Philip Lau who landed fourth in the race and Matthew Edmunds.

Jerry Choi, who checked in third in the final race, copped the Novice crown over Mark Laxa.
