Xavier makes it perfect 10 in Tiong Lian

MANILA, Philippines –  Three-time defending champion Xavier School streaked to its 10th straight win by crushing Grace Christian College, 102-53, while Hope Christian High School also routed Uno High School, 79-50, in the Freego 41st Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association (MMTLBA) high school tournament at the CKSC gym recently.

Youth Olympic veteran Jeron Teng led the team’s with 32 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and three steals to bag another Freego Player of the Game award.

The win also enabled Xavier to stretch its winning run to 30 since Game 3 of the 2008 Finals which the Golden Stallions also won.

Jarrell Lim, meanwhile, knocked in three triples for Xavier to gain the Burlington 3-point shootout award.

In the other game, Hope Christian leaned on the heroics of Jessiery Pedrosa and Errol Villar to clobber Uno High School for its sixth win in the event backed by PCSO, Davies Paints, Welcoat, Orocan, Puma, Fern-C, Bantex, PG-Flex, Molten, Healthy Options, Bow & Wow, Burlington, MEC Computer, Converse, Gold’s Gym and Absolute.

The win tied Hope Christian with 14-time champion and host Chiang Kai Shek College for second with 6-3 cards.

Pedrosa sizzled with 24 points aside from grabbing 11 boards while Villar had 17 points, six assists and four steals. Justin Co paced Uno with 14 points along with nine boards.
