MANILA, Philippines - To accommodate the big number of entries, organizers of the second Quezon City International Marathon (QCIM) yesterday extended the registration for the premier running event until Sunday.
“We have been receiving a lot of belated inquiries about the second QCIM, so to accommodate them, we are extending the late registration window until Nov. 14,” said Rudy Fernandez, chairman of the organizing Executive Runners Club Phils. (Runnex).
He said they are eyeing to equal if not surpass the 6,500 entries who took part in last year’s inaugural staging of the event sponsored by Robinsons Land.
San Miguel Corp., Puregold, Unilab, Meralco, Maxima, Unilever, Salonpas, SSS, Manila Water, Immuvit, Herbalife and Powerade and Viva Mineral Water as hydration partners.
Media sponsors include GMA, ABS-CBN, DZMM, The Philippine Star, Takbo.ph, Auto Review, and Philippine Amateur Radio Association as communications partner.
Late registration fees in the 5k and 10k fun runs are pegged at P450 and P600 for the 21k half-marathon and P750 for the 42.195k full marathon.
Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte are backing the event which has been declared by the City Council as an annual major international sports event of the city government and the private sector.

A group of 10 runners who sign up will also be entitled to field their 11th entry for free in the event firing off and ending at the Quezon Memorial Circle.
