Japanese aikido master visits Manila

MANILA, Philippines - Takeki Tsuboi, a master of the martial art of Aikido, heads a delegation of 11 Japanese aikido practitioners who will be visiting Manila on Sept. 19-22.

Tsuboi Sensei, 7th dan from Tokyo, will be teaching in a four-day seminar in Manila. He is a senior student of Hiroshi Tada, 9th dan, who is a senior surviving student of Morihei Ueshiba, founder of Aikido.

Tsuboi Sensei has been training in aikido for nearly five decades. He has also trained extensively in the Aikikai World Headquarters in Tokyo under three generations of the Ueshiba family.

He teaches aikido regularly at Waseda University and at Tada Sensei’s own dojo, Gessoji, both in Tokyo, Japan.

The seminar is open to all and will be held at three venues – the Philippine Heart Center Dojo on East Avenue, QC, the Makati Aikido Club at the Makati Sports Club, Salcedo Village, Makati and at the Aikikai Center of the Philippines Dojo at Club 650, Libis.

The seminar was organized jointly by The Filipino Federation of Aikido, Aikido Philippines and the Pilipinas Aikido Propagation Association.

After the seminar in Manila, Tsuboi Sensei will proceed to Cebu City where he will train with aikidokas from Sept. 23-26.
