Battle of Media Stars up in Animo triathlon

MANILA, Philippines - A novel “Battle of Media Stars” spices up the Animo Sprint Triathlon, which already exceeded the 400-entry mark a week before the event set June 12-13 at the La Salle Zobel and Narra Park at Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa.

The two-day project of the De La Salle Brothers (with La Salle Greenhills Class ’81 spearheading) is for the benefit of St. Jaime Hilario-La Salle School for the Poor Scholarship Fund.

Relay teams from The Philippine STAR (team A: Lucien Dy Tioco, Kevin Timoteo, Danilo Antonio and team B: Jevis Aguila, Jeff Reyes, Lloyd Galicia), U92.3 (S-Eri Neeman, C-Casey Montero and R-Ryan Armamento), 99.5RT (S-D Kid, station manager, C-DJ Logan and R-DJ Migz) and Max 103.5 (S-DJ Zip Cody, C-DJ Tony Spark and R-DJ Kevin Gray) battle it out over the 250-meter swim, 6K bike and 2.5K run course.

The Ateneo-La Salle rivalry, with UP joining the fray, now finds a venue other than the hardcourt and golf course in the third edition of the fundraiser presented by Sunkist, Vitwater and David’s Salon and supported by Swift, Selecta, Belo Essentials and Rudy Project with De La Salle Zobel, Ayala Alabang Village Association and Triathlon Association of the Philippines as organizers.

Media partners of the Animo Tri which has funded 240 poor students of the St. Jaime Hilario-La Salle School for the Poor in Bataan the past two years and another 120 this year include The Radio Partners, Inc., Jam 88.3, Wave 89.1, Magic 89.9, 99.5RT, 103.5 Max FM, Philippine STAR, Manila Bulletin and One Sport.

With the Animo Tri living up to its billing as the largest sprint event in Metro Manila in terms of participants, there will be no onsite registration. The June 9 deadline will be strictly enforced.
