MANILA, Philippines - Freego, one of the country’s leading apparels, will be the title sponsor of the Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association (MMTLBA) which fires off Saturday at the Jacinto Tiu Court of Xavier School in San Juan.
The partnership of Freego and the premier Fil-Chinese high school league in the country was officially announced during the press launching of the event last Tuesday with members of the MMTBA Board, led by this year’s host Xavier School, in attendance.
“We’re excited to be part of Tiong Lian basketball tournament. The league has a rich legacy being one of the country’s leading producers of top players, so it’s really a great honor to be a part of it,” said Arnold Sabado, Freego’s VP for Retail Operations.
Freego is also supporting Burger King in the pro league.
Aside from Freego, the latest to throw its support to the league that produced several past and present stars of the PBA like Lim Eng Beng, Atoy Coy, Joseph Yeo and TY Tang is 100 Plus Isotonic (Sports) Drink, which will be the league’s official sports drink.
Also backing the league presented by Fresh Gear Revolution Denim are Fern-C, Outlast Battery, Rusty Lopez, Puma, Converse, Burlington, Davies Paint, MEC Computer, Molten and Bow & Wow the Natural Pet Food Store.
Meantime, Xavier School goes for its second “three-peat” in the junior division against MASA champion St. Jude Catholic School and Chiang Kai Shek College.
Other participating teams are Uno High School, Grace Christian College and St. Stephen’s High School.
