MANILA, Philippines - A new member is set to join the second season of the Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (UCLAA), which fires off Nov. 20 at the Blue Eagle gym.
MLQ University, which topped the pre-season basketball tournament in September, brings to eight the number of squads in the league, which caters to Luzon-based schools.
MLQU will join founding members St. Francis of Assisi College, National College of Business and Arts, De Ocampo Memorial College, Philippine College of Criminology, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, Metro Manila College and St. Jude College.
National College of Business and Arts (NCBA) with Jose Torres Jr. as president, is hosting the opening games. St. Francis and PCCr topped the men’s and juniors basketball, respectively, while St. Jude ruled both men’s and women’s volleyball events during the inaugural season. Colegio de Sta. Monica and Las Piñas College are on leave this season.
“We had a fairly successful first season and we hope to improve more as we go along,” said UCLAA president Arturo Onas of St. Francis.
