Red Oilers rule Liga leg in GenSan

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines – The Quezon Red Oilers pulled off a come-from-behind 78-73 victory over the Smart-Pampanga Buddies to capture the Smart Liga Pilipinas General Santos City leg crown at the General Santos City gym late Saturday.

Center Angelus Raymundo hit a triple to shatter a 73-all count then Luis Palaganas canned in two charities to seal the victory for the Oilers as the Buddies failed to score the rest of the way.

Earlier, Buddy Al Magpayo tied the game for the last time with a triple with 30 seconds remaining in the contest that featured eight deadlocks and 22 lead changes.

The Buddies, behind the three-point shooting of Jonathan Aldave and Allan Husted, took the first half at 36-30.

Palaganas led the Oilers with 17 points while the 6-6 Raymundo won the leg’s MVP honors with averages of 13.3 points and 10.0 rebounds. 

The Red Oilers now moved up to second with 23 points while the Buddies grabbed third place with 21 points.
